Ian was a much loved and admired older cousin. I have many happy memories of Coles family gatherings in Bromley where fun and games were the order of the day, with Ian always making mischief, managing to write the funniest contributions to ‘consequences’. In later years he and Sylvia made frequent visits to see my parents Norman and Barbara. These visits were always looked forward to and really appreciated by us all. We particularly enjoyed Ian’s quiet humour and interesting stories of their new life in Ruthin - the large garden, learning Welsh, the cycling group, as well as family news. All this painted a picture of a contented family man living life to the full, shaped, as always, by his values. We are devastated by his loss, a good kind man, gone far too soon, and our hearts break for Sylvia, Steve, Heather, and Chris. Love Julia, Ian, Lizzy, and Amelia
